What started in 2009 as a local charitable program of donating birthday cakes to bring joy to under-privileged children has now become the umbrella term for Love and Quiches Desserts' national campaign against children's hunger. The company's Cakes for Kids® program embraces not only our partnership with local charity Island Harvest, but now also includes the donation of a portion of the Company's profits to charities, both local and national, that combat hunger in children.

In 2012, Love and Quiches Desserts' charitable activities expanded to include fallen heroes of the U.S. Military. We are proud supporters of the Wounded Warriors program, administered by the R&DA Military Assistance Program, Inc., to which a portion of the Company's profits is now donated. "We are grateful to our fallen heroes for their deep sacrifice and feel privileged to support the Wounded Warriors program. We are also honored to supply our brave servicemen and women in the field with a taste of home," states Andy Axelrod, President. The Company's charitable activities have been met with tremendous approval from the employees and customers of Love and Quiches Desserts.
Logos for the Wounded Warriors program and Cakes for Kids® are being added to the packaging of our Gourmet Grab & Go® individually wrapped snack product line, as well as on corrugated packaging and select brochures.
Love and Quiches has a long tradition of giving back to our community. The local Factory Outlet Store in Freeport, NY has been in operation almost since the founding of the Company by Susan Axelrod, offering local residents the opportunity to purchase our restaurant-quality products at a fraction of their cost. The Company supports various Long Island charitable and youth organizations; recipients of donated product include Operation Pride of Freeport, the Coalition for Domestic Violence, Youth Outreach, Ronald McDonald House, Catholic Charities of Freeport, the Harry Chapin Food Bank, the Hospice Care Network and the Les Turner ALS Foundation and, of course, Cakes for Kids®, our partnership with Island Harvest.
GOING GREEN![]()
We care about our planet and are actively seeking ways to be environmentally responsible. Recycling programs for paper and plastic are in place. All corrugated and plastic packaging materials, including cartons, boxes, PET, pails and drums are recycled; all corrugated is made from recycled, 95% Post Consumer Waste. All edible waste from the bakery is now composted; obsolete equipment, including pans and trays, is also recycled. Details are not overlooked either; the company contracts an eco-friendly coffee supplier and employees are encouraged to forego styrofoam cups in favor of company-issued ceramic coffee mugs. Green initiatives are explored on a continual basis.
